When creating a new dashboard, I see an option for using a template. What is this?
A template is a ready-made dashboard that can be used when adding a new dashboard, either as-is, or as a starting point that users can tweak and customize. To design a dashboard template, you would consider which set of viewlets you want to include in it. The viewlets you choose will be opened automatically when the dashboard is created. For example, you might want queues and topics only, or you might prefer managers, too.
You can create different templates for MQ, IIB/ACE, EMS and Kafka and they will show up only when that product is selected. Also, note that the node and queue manager default to match the template, but can be changed. That way, you can create different dashboards for different managers using the same template.
In order to create templates, you need to be an authorized user (you must have the Use Dashboard As Template right). If you have this right, you can create dashboard templates and share them with other users.
To set one of your dashboards as a template:
- Right-click the dashboard tab.
- Select Set as dashboard template.
From that point on, anyone who creates a new dashboard can select this dashboard as the template.
